Unfortunately, I couldn't find any email address for Epic Records, the company to which the artists is signed, and so I messaged them regarding the copyright of the track on Facebook. The message I sent is as below:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you with regards to the copyright of the song 'Best of Me' by JOHN.k.
As a media studies A-level student from England, I am required to direct, produce and edit a 3 minute long music video for a fictional pop artist with a range of camera shots, editing techniques, locations and representation of different social groups. It has to appeal a demographic of 16-25 year olds which I feel this song targets perfectly.
I have chosen this song due to the emotion it portrays and the format of it with the introduction of a heavier beat allowing for great narrative and performative elements. The video itself will be shot over the summer and upon completion will be uploaded to a private YouTube channel allowing only my media teachers at Weald of Kent, examiners from the OCR exam board and my peers also producing a music video.
I am seeking granted permission for the ability to use this song as the basis for my coursework.
