Ideological discourse
Ideological analysis examines what ideologies are typically associated with that position, for example, in order to defend or legitimate that position, typically so by discourse. In relationships of dominance, such ideological discourse may thus serve to sustain or challenge social positions.



Culturally marked



Culturally marked words are lexical units which have a cultural referent. A cultural referent is an object or phenomenon which is specific to a certain culture and the corresponding speech community. The meaning of culturally marked words is impossible to understand without cultural knowledge.
Heteronormative



Denoting or relating to a world view that promotes heterosexuality as the normal or preferred sexual orientation.
Progressive/regressive



Being is progressive is being an advocate of social reform whereas being regressive is proceeding from effect to cause or from particular to universal.
Marginalised



To treat someone or something as if they are not important.
Value-judgement



An assessment of something as good or bad in terms of one's standards or priorities.
Trivialised



Make something seem less important, significant, or complex than it really is.
Verisimilitude




The appearance of being true or real.
Ideologically destabilising 



To make a government, area, or political group lose power or control, or to make a political or economic situation less strong or safe, by causing changes and problems.



Contradicts dominant ideology



The term dominant ideology denotes the attitudes, beliefs, values, and morals shared by the majority of the people in a given society. As a mechanism of social control, the dominant ideology frames how the majority of the population thinks about the nature of society, their place in society, and their connection to a social class. The dominant ideology is the ideology of the dominant class.
Social myth





A popular belief or tradition that has grown up around something or someone, embodying the ideas and institutions of a segment of society. A myth is a story created to explain something, Greek myths explained why the world was the way it was. So, a social myth is one that is common to a large group of people.

Complicit



Involved with others in an activity that is unlawful or morally wrong.
Deviates/deviant




deviant is someone whose behavior falls far outside of society's norms; as an adjective
Subverting/conforming



Subvert means to overturn or overthrow from the foundation or to pervert or corrupt by an undermining of morals, allegiance, or faith. Conform means to act in accordance or harmony and comply.
Non-verbal language



Non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, the tone and pitch of the voice, gestures displayed through body language and the physical distance between the communicators.
